Celebrating your contribution, celebrating you

Everyone likes to be thanked for what they do – whether it’s a major career milestone or a little extra effort when helping a customer. We make a point of recognising what you do for our business and our customers, but we also celebrate important events in your life with you, from birthdays and weddings to the arrival of a new family member. We want you to feel you’re part of the Pets At Home family. 

Recognition with rewards

We believe you should get positive feedback for the good things you do, when you do them. That’s why we give all of our leaders a quarterly budget to use for recognition. So, for example, if you work hard on a project, you might receive an eCard with vouchers you can spend at major retailers. 

Colleague & Team of the Period

If you think your colleagues have done something amazing, you can nominate them for an individual or team award. Winners receive prizes but everyone who’s been nominated is publicly recognised.  

Colleague to colleague eCards

All of our colleagues can send eCards to each other when they want to recognise our values or behaviours. It’s a great way to draw attention to the little (and the big) ways we get it right every day.

Ad-hoc awards

We hold annual conferences for our colleagues – as an example we have a Support Office Conference and also a Retail Conference. At these events, we hold awards for colleagues and teams to recognise hard work throughout the year and reward those who have gone above and beyond. 

Marking special moments in life

We hope you will stay with us for many years and like to reward long service with gifts and extra holiday time. So, for example, on the anniversary of 15 years’ service you currently receive a gift worth £125 and two week’s extra holiday for that year.

We also celebrate promotions, birthdays, weddings and new members of your family. For example, everyone gets a day off on their birthday and colleagues celebrating a wedding or civil partnership get an extra week’s holiday to help them enjoy their honeymoon.  

We love to share good news and celebrate together, but don’t worry if you’re a more private person. We’ll check with you exactly how and when you want to be recognised and respect your wishes.
